Carrie French was born and raised in Bozeman, and graduated from Montana State University with a B.A. in Painting. In her youth, family trips to New York City and Chicago fostered a lifelong fascination with cities; all their glimmering glass, steel and overwhelming verticality. After college, while working in several other places, including New York City, she found a renewed appreciation for her hometown and now thrives while living and creating in Bozeman. Carrie is an expressionist painter whose work reflects her wonder of the environments she’s inhabited. Within her work you’ll find varied influences, natural and built landscapes, multiple perspectives, and the love of imagery, both industrial and natural.
Artist Statement
I paint for the thrill of spontaneity and creating impactful imagery. I find satisfaction in originating abstracted landscapes, emphasizing the elements that intrigue me most. I’m looking for a sense of wonder arising from bold imagery I can’t quickly label.
